The historical democratic movement in 1990 established the Nepalese political system as a multiparty democratic system. Thereafter, several new major economic policies have been introduced in the country in order to stabilize and accelerate economic and social development. One of the major policies can be taken as a liberal open door policy inviting private sector participation in trade investment, tourism and related commercial activities.
